Bob Stoops isn’t worry about playoff selection — but hopes strength of schedule matters
NORMAN — Bob Stoops expressed some concern last summer about the College Football Playoff selection committee, saying any decision made by humans will be — at least to some degree — marred by bias.

In a recent interview with The Oklahoman, Stoops said he isn’t worrying himself with it because there’s nothing about the process he can really control.

“I don’t know how you get away from that,” Stoops said. “There’s no way around it. I don’t care who you have. If you have a human — I don’t care if it’s coaches; I don’t care if it’s reporters; I don’t care who it is — everybody has either a bias or an allegiance to something, or is influenced by something. Or someone they answer to.”

The committee was revealed last season, and includes members like legendary former Nebraska coach Tom Osborne, Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, former Ole Miss quarterback Archie Manning and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

“There’s no sense in concerning myself with it,” Stoops said. “You’ve got some great leaders and people of great integrity and responsibility in their jobs that’ll do their best to do it the way they feel is best.”
