hahaha Blaine Gabbert traded for a 6th round pickPosted: March 11, 2014
After only three seasons, the Blaine Gabbert experiment is over in Jacksonville. The Jaguarsannounced on Tuesday that they’ve traded Gabbert, the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, to the 49ers.
In exchange for Gabbert, Jacksonville will get a sixth-round draft pick from San Francisco, according to ESPN.com.
“We thought highly of Blaine as an early entry into the 2011 NFL Draft,” 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “He is a high-character individual that will be given every opportunity to develop within our system and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Gabbert will presumably battle it out with Colt McCoy for the right to backup Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco.
I checked my blog, found this from 2011 pre-draft, Mel Kiper liked Blaine Gabbert
Gabbert might be more ready than Newton to read defenses at the NFL level, and as a quarterback with very good accuracy, instincts and size, he could come into a franchise in Washington that might need him early. Gabbert is a guy whose stock rose a lot this year and will be under the microscope during the workout process. But what he doesn’t give you is a quarterback who elicits a wide range of opinions or the boom-or-bust concerns many have with Newton and Ryan Mallett.
Boy, you suck, Mel
