95 Days Until Oklahoma Sooners Football

95 huh, ok  1995
So I found this gem, lol, Howard Schnellenberger’s debut at OU. “the Savior”.

Howard Schnellenberger made his head coaching debut at Oklahoma against the Aztecs on a beautiful September day in Norman. The controversial figure would see the Sooners run out to a 31-0 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. OU would be led by running back Jerald Moore as he would find the endzone 3 times on runs of 23, 52, & 7 yards. It would also be the debut of freshman quarterback Eric Moore. As four years as Oklahoma’s main starting quarterback (95-98) he would see the lowest of the low for the program, a 12-0 loss at home to Oklahoma State. A loss that broke OSU’s 19 game losing streak to OU. His career would come to a head when he would go off on the local media at the end of the 1998 season during a press conference about head coach John Blake and his possible future firing…. The Sooners would hold off a late surge by San Diego State to win 38-22…The worst line of this video is when play-by-play man Chris Marlowe says at the end of the game that “Howard Schnellenberger is now 1-0 and undefeated on the year.” Oh my, really?!
